Every failure can lead to a new success
One has to remember that every failure can be a stepping stone to something better.
Colonel Sanders / Founder of KFC
Even though his name is now associated with delicious fried chicken, Colonel Harland Sanders’ journey to culinary glory was anything but easy. Sanders was raised in a difficult atmosphere after being born in Henryville, Indiana, in 1890. His lifelong passion for cooking began when he took on the duty of providing for his family at the young age of six after the death of his father.
From a farmhand to a streetcar conductor, a soldier, a fireman, and even a tire salesman, Sanders tried it all. Each job provided him with unique experiences, but none brought him the success and satisfaction he craved. At the age of 40, he found himself running a service station in Corbin, Kentucky, where he began cooking for hungry travelers. He didn’t just serve food; he created a dining experience that people remembered.

Do all you can, do it best
I’ve only had two rules. Do all you can and do it the best you can. It’s the only way you ever get that feeling of accomplishing something.
Colonel Sanders / Founder of KFC
In the 1930s, Sanders started experimenting with different seasonings, eventually developing his legendary blend of 11 herbs and spices. He opened a small restaurant, serving his famous fried chicken to locals and travelers alike. However, it wasn’t until he franchised his recipe in the 1950s that KFC began to take shape.
#3 Never give up on you dreams
I just say the moral out of my life is don’t quit at age 65, maybe your boat hasn’t come in yet. Mine hadn’t.
Colonel Sanders / Founder of KFC
Facing numerous rejections, Sanders embarked on a tireless journey across the United States cooking his chicken for restaurant owners in hopes of gaining franchise agreements. In his mid-60s, when many consider retiring, his unwavering belief in his recipe and refusal to give up transformed a small kitchen experiment into a global fast-food phenomenon.
Inspiration for all ages
Colonel Sanders’ journey reminds us that success is a series of twists and turns that all contribute to the final destination. It’s a reminder that perseverance, adaptability, and an unyielding spirit can lead to extraordinary achievements, no matter the stage of life.
It’s never too late to chase your dreams. Embrace failure as a stepping stone, stay passionate, and persist through the obstacles. Your next venture could be the one that changes everything.
